Blue Heron Dance performs The Sleeping Beauty
Rediscover the romance and beauty in the timeless tale of The Sleeping Beauty when Blue Heron Dance performs the Ballet at VHS May 16, 17, and 18. A fairy tale classic, Sleeping Beauty was originally written in 1697 by Charles Perrault, and made famous by Tchaikovsky. The Ballet continues to inspire dancers more than 100 years after it was first performed in St. Petersburg.Regarded as the composer’s finest ballet score, Blue Heron Dance Company performed the work a decade ago. Dance Director, Christine Juarez said, “I chose this ballet because we have so many advanced dancers. It is a complex and challenging ballet. I have completely revamped this version, so those who saw it 10 years ago will see a very different piece this time.”

Collector’s Choice Art Sale

Blue Heron Art Center
Friday, May 30, 5-8 pm (VAA members only-if not a member, may
join at door).
Saturday, May 31, 10 am-4 pm
Sunday, June 1, 11 am-4 pm
Come early for one of Blue Heron Gallery’s fabulous, fun art
sales. Reminiscent of last year’s Archives Art Sale, which
featured works by Island artists, this year’s sale presents
works donated by passionate Island art collectors. It’s
happening at the Blue Heron Gallery May 30 and 31, and June 1.
From Friday evening till Sunday afternoon, a number of Vashon’s
most discriminating art collectors (and a few off-island ones,
too) will contribute works of art of every kind for sale to our
members and friends.
See lots of artwork, as collectors have released many works that
they’ve kept till now. While some of the artworks will have been
created by Island artists, much will also represent regional,
national and international artists. Be prepared to look for
special finds you would never otherwise see here for sale. If
you already collect a particular kind of art, come see if works
from your specialty are here.
This is not an auction, but an open gallery event. Walk in, find
pieces you like, buy them, take them home! There will be
paintings, prints, photographs, posters, textiles, sculpture,
pottery. This will be a wonderful opportunity to purchase
excellent original art for your home, workspace, summer place,
winter cabin.
